corrupt start button texture with aything > 6.31 drivers

It doesn't seem to couse any other trouble, but if I install drivers newer than the 6.31's from Nvidia, my start button, the spot to the left of the startmenu where it says "Windows 98", and sometmes even my min/max/close/scroll up/scroll down buttons get corrupted. I reinstalled 98 over the top of my old installation, did nothing, installed the 6.31 drivers, all is good. Reinstall the newer ones, no good. Any ideas?

me and my lil bros V7100 Pures (GF2MX) do that in 9x. Never have found a solution, but everyhing works ok. If you figure it out, post it please.
 
I have the Hercules MX and had the same problem. Not really sure what was causing it I think maybe a conflict with an old video driver I did not completely get rid of but any way a format cured it for me.
