corrupt reg

i have corrupt registry files...... when i try to delete them with regedit, windows would say file is invalid. and it would not allow me to delete it. i use winxp pro..... and this is annoying the heck out of me. is there anyway to delete that reg file? the reg file corrupted is not a crucial system file, it is a regular program registry file. so what should i do??
