Corrupt Outlook Express?

Odd problem: Outlook hangs when I try to download my email. I've upgraded to IE 8, no effect. Used System restore, no effect. Called my ISP; they tell me it's a software problem. I can send emails and they come through on my laptop.

XP SP2.

Can I reinstall Outlook Express 6? It's hard to find info on this, even at microsoft.com Can anyone help?

Or: can I do a repair reinstall?

Or: complete reformat?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Check the File sizes of the Inbox file. There is a 2 GB limit for Each folder (File) when the limit is reached...hangs occur.

No, I deleted the Deleted Items folder, so file size is not an issue.

Short of reformatting, is there any way to reinstall Outlook Express?

what AnnonUSA mean is that for outlook express - each folder that is listed in oe (inbox, outbox, sent etc) if any one of those gets to 2gb it will causes issues with outlook express from opening. what you would have to do is rename what ever folder is too big and oe will create a new one. If you want the messages in that full folder you can import that folder back into oe after as a different folder

as for re-installing Outlook Express, you cant unfortunately, there used to be a trick to allow it to be re-installed on xp sp1 or earlier but with sp2 or newer you cant.

The other option is to you could try windows live mail. but I dont know if it has the same 2gb file limit issues.
