corrupt driver

While working on reinstalling Windows 95 on an old laptop, the message "while initializing device IOS: i/o subsystem driver failed to load. file .\io subsys subdirectory is corrupt" popped up. Can this driver be restored from the cab files on the computer, or is more likely to be a reformat issue? Any help would be appreciated.

You can re-install Win95 over itself and it should repair any problem files you may have. No need to reformat and reinstall from scratch unless you need the experience for a new installation.
