I cant seem to play mpeg/wmas/wavs and avis anymore. The colour quality is crap and the lines are all bright and sharp. It basically looks like a badly colour balanced photoshop disaster. .mov files work fine so Im guessing it could be codec problem? I installed codedc all in 1 to fix problem but it didnt fix it. I tried Windows media player, realplayer, quicktime and Divx but problem is still there. Could it be my latest official nvidia drivers? My GFX card is 256mb 6800GT.
Anyone know whatnthe problem could be?

I would uninstall EVERYTHING (besides WMP of course), and get videoLAN. Never had any problems with it.

if that doesn't work:

/start/run/regedit/find&f3 "codec"
then go whalywhoo killing entries, only way i know of to kill everything before re-installing why of a full format/reinstall of windows.

oh.. backup your reg and be ready to manually(command-line) restore it.

The VideoLAN client doesn't use any external codecs. If you're still having problems, you have far greater issues.

AFAIK The Apple Quicktime player creates the video via your CPU (true software player).
Windows Media Player and VideoLAN uses your video card's GPU to create video(harware players).
So I would say your video card driver needs to be uninstalled, driver cleaner run, then install latest forceware driver from nvidia's site.

DemonEdge, do you by chance use an nvidia video card with the latest drivers?

If so, go into the video card display properties and go to the color correction section. Where it says "apply color changes to:", click the drop down and select overlay. Then where it says color profile, select advanced. You may or may not need to hit restore defaults. Play around with that and you should be good to go.
