So b/c I'm thinking about buying a new car soon I decided to get my Fico scores from my fico. I got all three scores and they are:

transunion: 736
Equifax: 685
Experian: 737

All of them ding me for not having a long enough credit history, I'm 22 and had my first credit card at 17? Can't do anything about that.

But I found out the reason that my equifax score is so low is that there is an incorrect item on it, for some reason at&t says I owe them $760, but this doesn't show up on either of the other two and I never even had any at&t accts under my name.

How do I go about getting this removed? It says to write a letter to the equifax with documentation supporting my claim. How do I submit something to show that their reprots are wrong? I never had the account they are talking about. So i'm kind of confused, help pls?

sounds like you need to contact at&t FIRST.
resolve it with them.

then contact equifax.
i got about the same scores as you, im 22, began at 17 too. Never late or any bad reports, except like you, credit not established long enough.

How often do yo check your credit?
i check once a year at the same time, thnk it should be sooner?

1st you should contact at&t like torx said, have them do all the searches they can, by your social, name, address everything. If they still can't find anything they can send you a free form letter indicating that you aren't a customer of theres in any way. You'd be suprised what you could find.

I work for a major credit card company that also handles at&t credit card customer service as well. I hate them personally, but I've seen a lot of kids that don't remember signing up for them, or their old cards had been sold off to another bank and now they have different names...all sorts of crap you wouldn't expect.

Also, sadly, I've heard getting something corrected on your credit report is about an act of congress. Good Luck!
