correcting gramatical errors

People with poor grammar should probably work on it before posting on the internet. Trust me, it's not just a problem on message boards. Even at work, I get to read emails from people who cannot spell or form a coherent sentence.

pointing out grammar/spelling errors as a tactic to discredit the opponent is extremly lame.

I don't mind correcting grammar for the sake of correcting grammar though.

I don't correct the other person's grammar when I'm discussing something with them on these boards, but it does cause me to form a certain opinion of their intelligence, education, and credibility. I know a lot of people like to think that it doesn't matter, but we all form opinions of people based on what we know about them and when one of the few things we know about them is that they can't spell or form a coherent sentence, it makes a difference.

Yes it is lame; however, it always makes you seem more reputable to others if you are able to use proper grammar and spellings in defending your positions.

i cant stand seeing bad grammar; it makes me angeréd.

Thats, why I'll be the first to attack anyone cromulent enough to shame theirselves on this forum, whatever the topic be.

grammar was one of my highest scoring subjects in elementary school. that was 10+ years ago. today, society is blaming the internet for the decline in individuals' grammar skills. consequently, there will be folks who are anal about grammar, so as not to succumb to the horrible mistakes of others.

i do believe that my grammar skills have since declined, but i have yet to place blame on the internet for it. it may also have something to do with the fact that i have not read a real book in ages (but that's also due to the fact that i spend more time reading content on the internet than in print).

i have no problem with folks who are sticklers about grammar, since we can all learn from one another, and people who post for the public are opening their words up for criticism -- whether it be content-related, spelling-related, or grammar-related. therefore, one should not complain if someone tells him that his grammar is incorrect.
