The comments just keep getting dumber and more insane

“I think not having the estate tax recognizes the people that are investing,” Grassley said, “as opposed to those that are just spending every darn penny they have, whether it’s on booze or women or movies.”
clearly the biggest problem in the economy is that there simply isn't enough money invested!

Apparently, not loud enough for the big orange boy to be moved. He said a lot of lies about protecting the middle class, and apparently does not care what's in the bill. Just so he can get his "pen" out and flaunt it over a piece of paper.

Oh he cares deeply what is in it. I believe he stands to gain tens of millions from the tax plan.

Looks like this bill is littered with stocking stuffers for the GOP's rich friends.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/gop-ta...-interest-provisions-pass-through-businesses/

Rich Republicans looting the Treasury. We'll borrow an additional $1.5T & give it to them as tax cuts. Meanwhile they'll cut funding for all kinds of things that benefit the public to, uhh, reduce deficits. The basic proposition is to throw money at the Jerb Creators & pray, like that's worked so well in the past. Cuz Freedumb, I guess.

Keep a close eye on the swirling walnut shells to find *your* taxcut. Which shell will it be under?

At this point, I don't think it matters to the actual politician supporting this mess how effects American people. They only care that they have ensured massive money for the next election and if they lose that election - a massively overpaid "consultancy" with one of the interested parties that purchased their vote. In any event, there is no doubt that they personally will be taken care of.

Sadly, this is what it has come down to. There has long been a well off political class, it's just become completely skewed with so much money in the game now. Members of congress should be banned from lobbying for at least 5 years - but we'd need congress to actually pass that; talk about the fox watching the hen house.

I am loving how the Senate fucked up the corporate AMT provision and left the rate at 20%, thereby guaranteeing that the House won't ever simply pass the Senate bill and must hash everything out in conference.

Yeah...Turns out that in their rush to pass a bill in the dead of night without giving anyone a chance to read it, the Senate Republicans accidentally nullified all corporate tax deductions.

What an unbelievable pack of screw ups. It's hilarious of them criticizing Obama's leadership for eight years when this absolute clusterfuck is what we get when they wrest all the power.

So what's next? The Senate re-votes? With all the extra goodies that craven senators, got in now taken out? Or does it go right to the house with all the goodies gone? Or do we just say fukk it and break out a Parcheesi tournament in the congressional chambers for all the good they're doing in trying to govern?

Who knew rushing 500 pages of seat of the pants tax legislation complete with hand written corrections could be so complicated!

In retrospect it's pretty funny that literally a single person believed them.
You have to look at the audience and I believe that I might have found one of them for you to observe.:D Shame on that caring liberal for trying to render assistance.

Newt fired all the professional policy wonks that used to write legislation. Lobbyists don't say things like, "that would be unconstitutional, Mr Speaker."

Fired the research staff, too, the fact finders. Don't need no steenking facts in post-truth America.

They have to try and fix it all in conference, which is going to be sticky.

Once the conference report comes out the House and Senate separately vote on it. No amendments are allowed...it's a take it or leave it proposition.

These are the brilliant people claiming every analysis of the bill's effects are wrong (even the ones they demanded for years) and that it really will pay for itself and generate incredible economic growth.

The problem now is that lowering the Corp ATM will raise the deficit to above the 1.5T over 10 years that they have to stay under to remain in reconciliation. That means that the working class is going to have to deal with just a few more tax to get the rich their promised tax cuts.

Oh, and remember that we have to find time to fund the government this week as well.

The probability that there will be incredible (and yet to be conceived of) unintended consequences emanating from this shoddy bill seems to be high.

Trump kind of opened the door to a 22% tax rate so they conceivably have some room to play. Though lol at Marco Rubio who didn't have either the brains or the balls to get what he wanted on the child tax credit just by nudging the corporate rate to 20.94%

I'll be remembering Marco at the polls next time around. If a Republican is the only candidate on the ballot I'll write in Martha Stewart and Snoop Dog to prevent Rubio from shizzling on my nizzle or something like that.:D
