What about this?

I agree with him. Fleece the rich with confiscatory taxes like they are fleecing everyone to pay for their tax cuts.

Nah, the real fleecing hasn't started yet. Right after elections, if the GOP somehow maintains power (you never know in this crazy country), there will be deficit and debt alarms sounded and, of course, the only way to solve them will be to do entitlement reform. There is no other answer.

Mark my words, if the GOP maintains power, it will come up and T-Rump will shamelessly break the pledge and support it.

Crossposting from the CBO thread because I didn't realize there was another tax bill thread...

Good tweets by David Klion.

The problem is that he fails to realize that the Democrats as a party represent largely the same constituency as Republicans - donors. Just not as extreme. But they will never do this.

When wealthy Democrats finance campaigns they do so with the understanding that their taxes will probably go up if they win, and that's OK. It's a whole different headset that the ruthless greed that drives wealthy GOP donors. Hilllary, for example, said that when America needs money that she'd call on the Rich to give more & they were obviously good with it.

Of course. They've worked for decades to get people crazy enough to go along with it.

Next year they'll lean back on their emotional perma-issues of God, guns, gays, trans, abortion, illegals & the whole laundry list in order to froth up the usual insanity to get people to vote for them, again. They won't want to talk about taxes because that makes people think. Too much thinking leads to too little believing in their bullshit & they know it.

Then why aren't they doing exactly what Klion is asking for? This is a historically unpopular tax bill, and the Democrats should be fucking crusading on it. Threatening to jail people, threating to claw if all back. Instead their bitching about handwriting in the margins. Because they're there for their donors, not voters.

So if they aren't doing exactly what you want then it means they are the same?
You are mad at a political party who politics using political norms and you want them to change over night.

Your heart might be in the right place but your rationality is fucking stupid.

You are impressively blind and stupid about how politics in America work.

No one said they're exactly the same. Get a grip. The system of financing campaigns obviously affects both parties.

No more BS beer summits and other nonsense. Democrats need to play hardball.

I would support Medicare cuts. At least they would target the Republican base.

Threatening to jail people is ridiculous. Leave that stupid shit to Trump & the banana Republicans.

Why do you think they are so brazen about stealing from us? They have no fear of repercussions. Jail is getting off easy, they really deserve the guillotine.

Threatening to jail is a bit much. There are several things they can talk about regarding impeaching and stuff, though.

They are brazen about it because they don't expect free and fair elections anymore.

Walker Signs Bill Tightening Election Recount Requirements
Gov. Scott Walker has just made it harder to ask for an election recount in Wisconsin.

Middle class conservatives really don't get it, at all. The govt will borrow ~1.5T over ten years and give the lion's share to the nation's wealthiest as tax cuts. To grow an economy where 90% of the fruits of growth go to the top 1%. All voted in by people who decried deficits when we were staring into an economic abyss their ideology & leadership created.

Anybody middle class who ends up saving a little in taxes needs to understand that it's just the bait in the trap.

They have betrayed the public trust. There is no long term solution to what they've done that doesn't involve sending them to prison.

We talked about that at work the other day and said the same thing. Had to hurry and get the tax stuff on the books but can't let it start until 2019 so the masses don't really notice it and then spend the next 10 months hammering the 'traditional' GOP stuff (your list suffices) to whip their base into shape.

No Mitch McConnell says its impossible to guarantee a tax cut for the middle class. Oh yeah working class Trumpsters; your ship is about to dock.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mcconn...arantee-tax-cut-for-everyone-in-middle-class/

"You can't craft any bill that would guarantee no one was in a special category that might get a tax increase

Special category? LOL...I guess having a few college age kids and a mortgage and some state and local taxes are in a special category.

When they removed the personal exemptions, they knew exactly where the majority of the money was going to be cut from and not......

It appears that senate has proposed 7 brackets. Hopefully this will address tax cut problems in the lower middle class.
Single 45-200 at 25% is a dumb bracket.

The whole thing is profoundly wrong. What we're doing is borrowing $1.5T from rich people so that we can give it back to them as tax cuts. Not to mention that they collect interest on the US govt bonds created in the process.

Creating confusion among the rest of us is just a sideshow.

The sheer audacity of it is breath taking. The fact that anybody will defend it is mind boggling.

all that money that the congress had to 'borrow' from social security in the 80s and 90s in order to bring the deficit hawks on board for ronald's tax cut will never be repaid. and every dollar that isn't repaid is just a (labor only) income tax, no different than had it been levied as part of the income tax to begin with.

Just saw this from Hatch:

Republican Senator Hatch on children’s health care: “I have a rough time wanting to spend billions and billions and trillions of dollars to help people who won’t help themselves – won’t lift a finger – and expect the federal government to do everything.”

He's always been an insanely self righteous twit.

The comments just keep getting dumber and more insane

“I think not having the estate tax recognizes the people that are investing,” Grassley said, “as opposed to those that are just spending every darn penny they have, whether it’s on booze or women or movies.”
