I had an Athlon 850MHz oc'ed to 1000MHz, I recently acquired a TBird 1000 and must say that there is a quite noticable difference in performnace. Question: Can the TBird at 1000 be faster than he classic oc'ed to 1000?

It most definitely is. The faster L2 cache makes all the difference.

I agree, the cache at full speed well get 5-10% increase in performance at same mhz with classic athlons
