Air Canada argued that despite the error, the chatbot was a “separate legal entity” and thus was responsible for its actions.

There's no limit to the shamelessness of Corporations.

Presumably this is how things are going to go when "self-driving cars" become mainstream?

Well it's not America, so in this specific case I figure the corporation will lose, but it will be interesting to see the legal framework grow around automated tools now that it's big business and everything is AI.

It's just software companies doing the standard legal mice type shit. Oh, you lost all your data? Look at our software agreement. We put up with way to much poor quality software as it is.
