"thanks" or "thank you"?

What else should be used?

Though I do start ALL e-mails with "I beg to inform you" ;) It's in 1933 in my world, not 2013. haha...

On the extremely rare event that I email someone outside the company I'll include my title and phone.

Thanks, (or Regards,)

Unless it is someone I don't deal with regularly with then I'll put my full name.

Really surprised no one has said:

Thanks care,

Anand

I think I've been on this site too damn long.

I work in an old industry, so...

Mostly - 'Best Regards'

In cases where the individual I am emailing is more than 3 levels senior, I use 'Best Possible Regards'.

===

With regards to 'Heated Exchanges' - It's best by far to take that stuff to the phones. When you must, the trick to learn is 'swear at the screen, but pour Honey on your fingertips'. Granted, that can be rather difficult at times. ;)

One of our new co-ops just started signing his emails with "God Bless." Sigh.

My official email signature has my full name. I normally go by a nickname. I sign my emails:

Regards,

[nickname]

[full email sig]

Thanks,

Best,

Regards,

I've been doing "thanks" for 5 years, but it's not appropriate in all instances. Where not appropriate to say thanks, I usually just sign my name but that seems too short.

what say you ATOT?
I don't auto-sig the thanks/thank you line, it's more personable to vary it based on the message.

For new e-mails:

Best regards,

Name
Title
Direct phone number
E-mail address

Company shortened name
Company full name
Street address
City, State, Zip
Main office phone number
Company website address

It's a company standard.. and then there's the disclaimer at the bottom regarding tax advice and privileged/confidential info. Work at a law firm.

For replies, if its a client I know well, I just sign off with my first name.

Don't forget an uplifting spiritual quote, or maybe some quote about overcoming adversity.
