Coronavirus deniers take aim at hospitals as pandemic grows

dawp

hope these idiots get to experience corvid-19 first hand

The video, taken by former Fox News commentator Todd Starnes, jump-started a conspiracy theory that resulted in a trending hashtag and millions of video views — all of which pushed the idea that the pandemic has been overblown by public health organizations and the media.

A day later, a different video of the same hospital went viral on Facebook and Twitter. It showed bodies being loaded onto an 18-wheeler outside the same hospital. The video, which was retweeted by a member of the New York City Council, was later confirmed as legitimate by the hospital.

The two videos illustrate the stark disparity in how the coronavirus outbreak is being portrayed on different parts of the internet, with many people on the far right going so far as to allege that overworked health care professionals are not telling the real story.

So I wonder why these deniers think that way in the first place? What have they got to gain or lose from their ludicrous stance on this national crisis?

Are these the same folks who are anti-climate change freaks I wonder.

Just save the video and play it back to them while denying them service when they show up at the hospital. Beds are needed for sane people.

So many crisis actors. All the ‘dead’ are having a party on Richard Branson’s private island while the Dems plot to take over America and take away the guns and force everyone into sex change operations and inviting the Chinese Communist Party take over our precious hospitals and bodily fluids. Thank God Donald Trump is here to defend his bank account.

should have listened to him, it's been getting worse and worse

at least you used 'should have' and not 'should of', one of my pet peeves from the ignorant.
Everyone is ignorant, just on different subjects.
Theres no law requiring people to use the so-called rules of English.
English is a dynamic language which has evolved over about a thousand years. If there were actual laws and if people actually stuck to them we would not be speaking or writing the way we do now.

Maybe worrying about unimportant shit over important shit is how we got in this mess?

i usually ignore it and snicker at it.

Yea its DEFINITELY not King Trump calling it a flu and the Democrats new Hoax.
It has nothing to do with Hannity and the rest of Fox blowing it off?

In another thread I attempted to get @OILFIELDTRASH to openly say why we are in this dichotomy of truth and fiction when it comes to COVID-19. An admitted Trump supporter he was so close to being honest as to how we got here but he couldn't quite pull the trigger.

It's just not the virus, name almost any topic there is a cottage industry of misinformation and brainwashing that I'm not sure the victims realize. Problem is in the end we all pay the price.

Seems appropriate for this thread. Copied from P&N's Name thread.
The second last tweet, the lady in the hospital, is probably 100% honest. She's just also ignorant.

If you have no intellectual curiosity, it's fairly easy for a large number of Healthcare employees to think this is "overblown" when walking around the hospitalist.

My hospital's ED has been nearly a ghost town for probably 2-3 weeks now (compared to normally, we have one of the busier EDs in the country) because all the walking wounded/worried well/high utilizers for low acuity stuff aren't coming in. It's really only sick people in the ED.

Similarly, our hospital census is actually lower than average right now for the same reason. A lot of the patients that would be here are staying away (which may have its own significant morbidity).

So, if you just looked at bed utilization it would be a reasonable assumption to say "well this ain't bad!" But more likely, the lower acuity folks are staying home (perhaps to their detriment) and given projected peak cases in 2-3 weeks, this is probably just the calm before the storm.

But.. Morons gonna moron.

My immediate area hasn't been hit hard, as were not densely populated, and the local hospital isn't overrun. Plus, all the patients that need in-patient care are being treated at the Urban hospital that is definitely more equipped to handle it. It just makes sense.

Head on over to Boston or NYC and it will be a different story.

True dat. I'm old enough to remember when the cultists in our quintessentially American Cult of Ignorance used to derisively refer to intelligent, thoughtful people as EGGHEADS. The epithets change but the bred in the bone ignorance remains the same. #Sad

You would think that anyone bright enough to be a nurse to think this through. Someday I'm gonna be at the hospital, and my nurse may just scare me in this way lol

I say this knowing full well that someone can be book smart but dumb.
I know a lot of really dumb doctors. I would have to be on death's door to be admitted to a hospital. God willing that's not foreboding.

There is a 'valid' reason (not an excuse) why deniers are appearing; Trump fucked this up, horribly. 100s of thousands are expected to die. So, instead of admitting he fucked up, he has his followers go out and bash the reality of what is happening. People are dying over this and Trump is attacking those that are dying.

I honestly could not imagine he could go any lower; he has and will continue to.
