Rice has a similiar story. We are named for William Marsh Rice, guy that donated heaps of cash to build the place, and his earthly remains are under the base of this big statue of him in our main academic quad. Really, really heavy thing. Anywho, some MechE's from Wiess (one of the residential colleges here) build an A-frame and spent some time trying various things till they could turn a car around in place no problem, then they went to Willie's statue and rotated it 180 degrees. (poor man has his grave desecrated all the time)
The school, of course, wanted it back the way it was, so they hired a construction company to come out and make it right. Big crane, etc. etc., but the kicker is this: they bent one of the 4 pins the statue sits over so the statue was out for about a month as the repaired the base to some ridiculous price tag. It took the students about an hour to do the original turn.
