The Corn Refiners Association (CRA) launched a $20 to $30 million dollar ad campaign in June 2008 "to convince consumers that HFCS [high-fructose corn syrup] isn't the evil it has been made out to be."

I don't usually post stuff like this, but man - those commercials make it sound like a drug! "It's not bad for you...in moderation" Pretty much everything I eat lists the second or third ingredient as corn syrup (High Fructose Corn Syrup or HFCS). Unless moderation means eating it in like 90% of what I consume, I think I need a diet change lol.

It isn't worse, or much worse, than sugar, but because it's the preferred sweetener because of its cost it gets put in all the sweet stuff that people eat/drink too much of.

lol, tell me your search methods. I spent like 2 minutes typing every word combination into the search box here to make sure I didn't repost :p

If the corn lobby can afford $20 million ad campaigns then why the fuck are we subsidizing them still?

Salt: It's good for you - in moderation.
Water: It's good for you - in moderation. It'll kill you if you get it in your lungs.
Air: It's good for you - in moderation. It'll kill you if you get it in your blood.
Electrons: They're a vital part of you - in moderation. Too many will kill you.

In fact, I recommend an immediate ban on all hadronic matter.

Marketers and lobbyists need to make a living, too.

Try to convince Joe Biden that.

if you consider moderation pretty much every prepared or semi-prepared food on the shelves of your super market.......then yeah, it's ok in "moderation"

Yeah that's my complaint too...it's in EVERYTHING! It's in my CHEERIOS! I don't think you can eat it in moderation if you have it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. If it's in your drinks, and even your bread. It's a chemically processed food...that can't be good for us. Cancer, diabetes, etc...I wonder how much is linked to eating chemicals like this.

The larger problem isn't so much HFCS, but the presense (and amount) of refined sugars (including HFCS) in so many foods that most people eat.

Not that the HCFS topic hasn't been beaten thoroughly already. There was a thread about it about a week ago.

In before Amused.

Kinda hard to ingest HFCS in moderation when almost all the food and drink in a non-Trader Joe's type supermarket has some quantity of it.

Can't wait for that cloned cow milk next and Big Dairy's attempt to claim it's just as good as the usual stuff (eg. the hormone packed, ultra pasturized, border-line natural white drink), mmmm-mm!

I stopped eating refined sugars a long time ago. They do cause serious problems in the long run.

I cut that stuff out of my diet recently. It does limit your choices of groceries, but you can find things that do not contain it, you just have read the labels.
