Oh man...I was supposed to get my books today. No sign of them yet. :( And I paid for the only option for shipping: "fastest". And I am already charged for them....good thing I paid using Amex (good protection). ;)

Watch out for Booksonline. I was a member of their computer book club. When I signed up I don't recall there being a Minimum purchase price. So, I purchased a USB reference book for $25. 2 days after I received the book, and wrote my name in it, I went into my local BN and saw a new edition on the shelf for $30 or $35.

I recently got a bill for $35 saying I had not met my 1 year commitment.

As for Coriolis, check out their "Setting up a Linux Intranet Server" and "Linux Administration" books they were $6.24 and $12.99 respectivly. I had just seen the Intranet book in Borders, and it looked pretty good.

Haven't gotten mine yet, but the estimated shipping date was today. I'll post a message when they arrive.

Here's what Coriolis' Web site says on their home page about the store closing temporarily:

<<Due to the overwhelming success of our ?Spring Break Promotion? we must temporarily suspend taking any additional orders through our bookstore. After the orders currently placed are shipped to our customers, we will restart the sale with available Coriolis inventory.>>

Looks like they can't keep good track of what they've sold. I'm sure Round 2 will start up in a week or two.

I have not yet received my shipment, yet, although they said it would be here last Thursday using the "fastest" shipping method, which was the only choice. It sure didn't take them long to charge my credit card, but they are taking their time shipping the books. I plan on calling if they aren't here by tomorrow. Has anyone received their books, yet???

Sure feel for you guys. It sure looks like a "let me scam it up before closing time". I just PM mine 3 books using AMEX. I didn't feel good about their excessive shipping charge. I never knew it cost so much for books. Books should be the cheapest to send if you're not in a rush. Just weird to me.

Hello ,

We received your web order for four of the PHP Black Books for $87.99 (with

Well, I guess I'll wait until Friday to see what develops. After that, I'm just going to buy with AMEX Blue and PM to the e-store once it opens up. ;) Had to figure out how to use my $1000 PM limit. ;) :D

I finally got a response from them with regard to the status of my order:

"Unfortunately, the titles are in backorder status at the moment. We hope to
get more stock in next week, so your order should ship around 4/25 via UPS
Ground (5-7 business days delivery)."

So. They ALREADY charged my card. They charged me for "fast shipping" and I will still get UPS Ground when (if) they finally get any more stock. Very nice.

It was sent to me all messed up exactly like above. I'd better get my books, or I'll be ticked as h*ll. I'm so tired of being screwed by companies...

Below is the response to the email I sent to them. (I did receive an email like the above with the screwed up formatting.)
I ordered photoshop, mac os X, cisco, and active directory books.
I guess some were in stock and some weren't.
Or they're just yanking me.

Any estimates on when I might receive my books?
I am curious as to whether they have even shipped.
I ask because I have already been charged for the
books and shipping.

Thanks,
mike

I still have not received my books, which were supposed to be here 4/11 or 4/12. I sent an e-mail to Exam Cram; this is the e-mail I received in reply.

When I ordered the books, they were supposedly in stock. That is why I was able to order them at the discounted rate because they said that only those books that were in stock would be available at the discounted price.

Get more stock in next week? This doesn't make any sense. Aren't they the publisher? Would they really be having more books printed if they are liquidating and going out of business? Something doesn't seem right here.
