Corei7 920 - 1:1 Ratio OC?

Quick noob question,

The CPU comes shipped with a 1:1 FSB ratio with a specific speed of ram. What are the levels of OC that will hit 1:1 again. I know there's 3:2 etc... but if I want it to sync with the RAM at 1:1 at higher speeds which speed is that?

Thanks!

You should note that there's not really such a thing as a 1:1 ratio with i7. You're either going to be using 2:6 or 2:8. I'll assume that you are referring to the 2:8 ratio.

For 1333 MHZ RAM, the CPU would be at 3.33 GHZ. For 1600 MHZ RAM, the CPU would be at 4.00 GHZ. The way I have it setup is to keep the 1:1 at 3.8 GHZ, which means that the RAM runs at 1520 MHZ.

RAM speed does almost nothing - I could probably bump the multiplier down and have it run at 1140 MHZ and not see any difference.

CPU multi would be 20 x 166 - RAM with 8 multi would be 1328 - so you should be good..

Quicky guide:

Stock i7 920
BCLK 133
CPU: 20x133 = 2.66GHz
RAM: 6x133 = DDR3-798 or 8x133 = DDR3-1064

OC 920
BCLK 200
CPU: 15x200 = 3GHz or 20x200 = 4GHz
RAM: 6x200 = DDR3-1200 or 8x200 = DDR3-1600

Just keep in mind that CPU & RAM multipliers are adjusted completely independent of each other. Put your BCLK where you want it, adjust CPU multi and RAM to whichever is closer to max without going over.

Max DDR3-1333 OC
BCLK 222
CPU: 18x222 = 4GHz or 20x222 = 4.44GHz
RAM: 6x222 = DDR3-1332

I'm thinkin 200 BCLK is too high on 1.2V ?

I have DDR3-1600, to have 1:1 I need to have what multiplier on the ram for 3.2GHZ cpu speed?

166 BCLK and adjust the memory to 8x 166? And viola?

neither of the stock ratios 2:6/2:8 support ddr3-1600 with a 3.2Ghz CPU speed. 200Blck and DDR3-1600 works great though (you can always turn down the CPU multi)
