core2 duo or xeon for my workstation

the e6600 and xeon 5060 are right around the same price, but i cant figure out what will give me better performance... my workstation is running kodak professional dp2 (loading & rending at the same time) and photoshop simultaneously.

Xeon = 2 socket
Core2 = 1 socket

No point in getting a Xeon and only using 1 socket.
