Hello

A quick question I am running prime95 (quadcore edition) since last 6 hours and I am starting to see major variance between core temp 1-2 and 3-4. they are about 8c apart. Is this normal? when idle they are only are 2c and 3c part.

full load small ffts after the 6th hour

Cores 1&2 are 63c
Cores 3&4 are 55c

On full load difference is about 8c. The difference between the cores was only 4c when I started testing. Cpu is at 52c.

That is probably normal.

What were the temps at idle? You may find the percentage differences the same. This would indicate it's the sensors (range error) not the reading.

The only way to fix it if it is the chip, would be to lap the cpu and HSF. (unless someone did a poor job of applying the TIM.)

My idle temp are:

Core1 = 42c
Core2 = 39c
Core3 = 37c
Core4 = 40c

Cpu = 31c

I am clocked at 3.2Ghz.

My Load temp are:

Core1 = 63c
Core2 = 63c
Core3 = 55c
Core4 = 55c

Cpu = 55c

As you can see the load difference between cores is 8c.

If you lap your chip and the base of my hs, you'll likely bring those numbers much closer together as well as drop them all (I have the same setup you do chip and HS wise and with both mine lapped, I knocked off about 10 °C from my load temps).
