I was just curious about how well the new Core M like the one in the asus ux305 and macbook would do for gamecube/ps2 emulation. Does anyone have a system they could try it out on? I'm getting the UX305 and if it can't do something simple like that I may just look for something else

They should do fine for certain games, though you'll mostly be GPU limited.
That's what I figured, also the reason I put it in video cards and graphics, because I know the cpu is fine for it, but i want someone to test the gpu capabilities for emulation. I want brawl

I ran PCSX2 on an Atom netbook with settings I can't remember and apart from some dips it was fine. Core M won't be a problem.

I think Smash Bros is fairly light on the GPU.

I found dolphin to be much more intense than pcxs2 on my old C2Q, but that could be due to the game selection. Both run very well with my current setup.

PSP emulation runs extremely well on all of my hardware, FWIW.

Gamecube CPU is way more powerful than the PS2's cpu, but PS2's VU0 provided a lot of general purpose float point power.

Are you talking about your laptop? How does the HD 5300 compare to the 3650?

For PS2 Emulation, my R9-290 will be limiting my FPS on certain games; while other games run like butter. Slowdowns in emulators are far easier to notice than in regular games.

The CPU part of Core-M will be fine, but some games will definitely obliterate the integrated graphics unless there is a hack-fix in the emulator to help out performance.

My laptop's GT 650m would be crushed by many PS2 games with many, many frame drops while the R9-290 wouldn't in most areas. Then again, some games would feel buttery smooth at 60fps.

Make sure to limit Core-M's turbo-boost if it throttles graphics speed and not to enable too many graphical enhancements in the emulator and it should be O.K.

Desktop, but the laptop runs PSP games well. I'm not too sure of the difference between the 5300/3650. The mobility 3650 I have is the underclocked (495 vs 700mhz) and low power (14w vs 30w) variant .of the mobile version. It rarely breaks 52C and can play most older games well enough and light emulation. The gpu on the PSP was nothing compared to the PS2 so IGPs today likely will be great for it.

Well I just did some research and it seems that the hd 5300 is about 30% more powerful than the 3650 @ 600 mhz... a little disappointing actually

The Core M is a 5w ultra-mobile part. What do you expect? If you need more power, get a more powerful CPU.
