Core i7 for sale in Israel 1st Nov 2008?

So I was just browsing around checking out cases in Israeli shopping sites late this night when my eye catches the Core i7 logo and I click back in the browser and it is actually for sale.

I wonder if their just cheating or it's pre order without them saying so, nowhere on that page it says pre order, it also doesnt say whether it in stock or not.

Other sites in Israel where I shop more often don't have it in there at all.

So what's the deal? I don't know this shop well and I wonder whether I should place an order or not, I am intending to buy Core i7, I been waiting forever to replace my P4 2.8 Prescott.

It's around the same price as the Q9550 costs here, 405$ dollars exact, so yes, it is more expensive that what that cpu should be I think.

If you look at their homepage you will see the other 2 Core i7 cpus for sale too and their extremely expensive.

Core i7 965 Extreme Core i7 965 Extreme costs 5,263 shekels which is 1,407$ dollars
Core i7 940 Core i7 940 costs which is 2,950 shekels 788$ dollars

Now dont tell me you cant afford it,go get it and let us know the results!

Well there was all that skuttlebutt a week ago about the release date being pulled-in to Nov 3rd. Maybe there was some truth to the rumor.

That is the reason I haven't bought a processor yet. If that rumor was true, I was going to see if 775 CPU's and MB's would go down in price over the following weeks as demand decreases. I am waiting for November 6th, and if it isn't out by then, I will start looking for processor deals (right now the Q9550 is $299 at Micro Center, so I will probably go that route) I have a deadline of November 23rd when I have to have it built, so I can't wait for it if the original release date rumor was correct.

Considering they have all sorts of new things going with this platform (triple channel DDR3, IMC, Hyperthreading, new socket, etc.) I really doubt that the initial systems (including the CPU, Main Board, and RAM) will have no issues. It all matters how big those issues turn out to be, whether it is worth it to purchase. This release is higher risk than most, because so many things are changing.

DDR3 is not a risk, its been out a while. IMC is not new (just to Intel) and hyperthreading is old. New socket is always a risk, and new stuff. I doubt that its a bad thing.

Yeah, but triple channel is new - to Intel and all the board makers, the IMC is new - to Intel, the hyperthreading hasn't been around for a few years. The point is this is a radical departure from the previous design in many ways. As such, there will always be some unforeseen issues. I wouldn't touch the first chip out the door, but I am not going to berate someone who is willing to take the risk either. I generally avoid the first model year of any car for the same reason.

Same thing here... I'm not an early adopter. I don't want to stop anyone else from buying early, as they are alpha and beta testing for me. However, I won't be the one buying the first lot of stuff. Honestly, I won't be upgrading to i7 until after the die shrink (so probably 12-18 months). However, that's just because I just put this q6600 system together... and I don't really need more power than this any time soon!

okey guys b4 you go poping stuff in and buying stuff, let me just tell you this.

BE VERY CAREFUL IN WHAT RAM YOU GET.

MAKE SURE YOU READ THAT LITTLE STICKER ON THE X58 BOARD ON THE RAM SLOTS B4 YOU BUY RAM.

i needed to yell that. If you havent read that little sticker, goto google and look up asus p6t
or look though AT.

Now if you want my floating advice pete, you really want the 940. 🙂
And trust me on this.

There are always "errata." 😉

It should be reasonably solid, seeing as some of the technologies aren't new inventions, but are just everything rolled into one. Also, there have been working samples floating around for many months.

Just another tock in Intel's "tick tock" strategy.

Cliff notes:

TICK: Die shrink

TOCK: New CPU architecture

ahhh. I see 1.65 max on ddr3, but most ddr3 won't even boot at that, right ?

oh, I forgot, lips sealed....

😉

80% of the high end ddr3 works at 1.7+v

becareful. 😉

I was just on the phone with them, the CPU is for sale and available but the motherboard isn't available until the 10 to November.

might as well wait then. the NDA isnt technically even up yet so we dont know if you are going to get yourself into a pile of shit or not until it is lifted lol

You don't sign an NDA when you order from a hardware site!

yea of course. the point is there are people under NDA who have had these things for months and know exactly how they perform and already have pre-written reviews on hand that they are going to publish the second the hardware goes public. supposedly that day is comming sometime from 7 hours from now until sometime next week, so i would just wait and see.
