Doesn't matter which is more important for naming conventions. That's just the process at which Intel operates. Also, the die-shrink does come after the new architecture. Then on the same die size the new architecture (tock). But I don't think this semantic discussion is necessary. Go complain to Intel.

You did notice my smiley, did you?

180x20=130W
180x21=147W

That's according to CoreTemp.

I tested the OC for 24/7 stability but I'm long past the days of keeping comps on for 24/7. When I go out for a few hours the comp goes off. I used to have several systems on 24/7 while still folding for Sharky. But the electricity bill didn't lie...

And I am using all powersaving options. running 2160 MHz at the moment (180x12)

TDP is now 43W. About a 100W less then under full load.

I guess I'm late to the party, I don't even have an i7 rig yet. I'm planning on skipping the 45nm i7 generation, and moving on to the 32nm, whenever that's released.

The 32nm of the Core i5 series? Because I'm positive there are Core i7 32nm chips in the works that will run on 1366/x58.

no he's talking about the tock cycle on the bloomfield.

but like ive been telling everyone, dont hold your breathe because intel has been full of delays.

Like.... WHERE THE F IS MY i5 HTPC.

Actually Intel has been pretty much on track the last few years,...

32nm I5 platform 2cores - 4 threads which will offer similar to current I7 performance should be out before long,....

32nm I7 platform (1366 socket) is scheduled for around spring of 2010 6 cores-12 threads

I will be waiting until next spring since my current overclocked e7200 has plenty of power with the exception of video editing,... where I could use a lot more and more cores and ram,.... well that will always be the case with video editing,....

Up to 4.2@1.25 volts. Still using HT - temps are hovering in the low 50's at idle jumping to the high 60's under load.
