or the amd 6 core what the heck is the difference the i7 920 is cheaper then the i5 whats the big difference
games i play is wow ,MW2, steam games,battlefield 2142,battlefield bad company 2 and other games, i want the computer to last

yep. it makes NO sense to buy a dual core i5 especially for 300 bucks. i5 750 is the best overall value.

And if you step up to an i7 then the 860 is the sweet spot. Unless you're set on LGA1366, then ... I guess it'd be the 930 now.

If you're just playing games I'd go for the i5 750, I don't think HT affects frame rate at all. Like other people said as well go for the 750, I think the other i5's cost more because they combine a gpu with it(at least the 661 does, not sure about the others).
