Hey guys!

Just read about this Hyperthreading stuff, and i decided to ask your thoughts about it, so the question is:

The Core i5-2500k do not have Hyperthreading and would like to ask that how does it matter that it don't have, still enough this CPU to the future? ( 2012...) or buy an AMD 6 core Phenom?

Thank you for the answers.

You're good with the Core i5 2500K. The virtual threads aren't a huge improvement if you're mostly performing single threaded tasks.

You probally would not know the difference from the 2600 and 2500 unless you were doing video encoding or 3d rendering. I have an AMD 1100 system and a Intel 2600k and the best performance component which made a huge difference is the SSD's I put in the intel system.

Take a look at Anand's review.

Modern gaming is still mainly at 2-4 threads. Don't expect it to change to more than 4 threads in the mainstream for about two years.
