hello every one
first i would like to thank you for this marvelous forum which i find so useful i want to make my own PC i was about to buy a processor:
Intel Core i3 3220 Ivy Bridge 3.3 GHz
but some one told me that this one:
Intel Core i3 2120 3.30GHz
is better, so i just would like to know what do you think... and if both are not good and any of you have better one please tell me about but to be with the same price or near to it....

thanks for any attention you may give to my post

thank you

The Core i3-2120 is the older Sandy Bridge version of the i3-3220.

They are the same in terms of major specifications (number of cores, clock speed, etc.) The IB chip uses a bit less power, has a newer integrated GPU, and supports faster RAM.

The SB chip may overclock better (I don't OC). Otherwise you probably are fine with either, but if they cost the same, I'd go with the newer chip.

I'd say the 3220 is better (slightly faster, slightly lower power) unless you can get the 2120 much cheaper.

Outside of the price (if there is a difference between them); there is no reason to go with the Intel® Core™ i3-2120 over the Intel Core i3-3220. The 3rd generation Intel Core processors run about 6% faster at the same clock speed and they also use less power.

i3s don't overclock at all. Get the i3-3220 unless the 2120 is significantly cheaper. The difference in performance is about 5% so you can determine if that is worth the difference in price.

It would be helpful to know your budget and intended use for the computer. The i3 is a good general purpose CPU, but depending on your uses, a cheaper pentium or more expensive quad core might be a better choice. But to answer the specific question you asked, I would agree with the other posters that I would pick the 3220 over the 2120 unless the older model is significantly cheaper.

Do you plan on overclocking ? Grab the 3220 . For video card grab a 460 1GB or 660 Ti

The 460 1GB will do justice here. Goes perfect with the components you picked. gl

I would also consider the i3 3225, it has better onboard graphics

If you live close to a Microcenter, you can get it for $119 plus $40 off any compatible mobo. I usually got with the Biostar H77 board.

the 3225 IGP is still quite slow, if you are not trying to play games I think the HD 2500 is fine... if that's not the case, use the price difference to help you pay for a VGA,
