core i3 2100 for low resolution gaming?

Low heat output of components for this build is key,its why i choose the i5 2500 and the 7850 and why i considered the i3 2100 originally.

I modded a 80mm fan on the side of the case where vent holes are at,appears to be enough room to mod 2 120mm fans,so overheating will be a non issue,and currently is not with the el cheapo 6770 and 9150e currently in there.

Not to step on anybody´s toes, but I believe it would be worth it to clarify to the op that Ivy uses less power and therefore puts out less heat and than SB, especially considering what he stated in his last post.

Temperature does not automatically equal higher heat output. Ivy Bridge's temperatures only go up by a big amount once you over-volt. If you're running at stock voltage, stock frequency with the stock fan then it'll be around 5C higher than SB, but who cares? The most you'll see is 70C running a stress testing program like Prime95, and that's way below being too hot.

If you're running stock that's an even better reason for going with Ivy Bridge.

Perhaps your right,but the items are already on their way,with all the talk about the i5 3570 and the i7 3770k,i honestly never knew about the i5 3470 nor the i5 3450 nor their lower prices as i guess few people get these models or there is little talk,i just knew the i5 2500 had one of the fastest stock clock speeds at a lower price then the i5 3570 and considered i was pinching pennies....

For the main purpose of gaming,there is gonna be zero difference as that is all the machine will be used for.

I honestly wouldn't buy a slower part for the same amount or more then another part unless i honestly never had any idea about them....:eek: Starting to feel old,i used to be on top of everything.

The 3570 is at $200 right now on Newegg. :/

Still, the 2500 is plenty for gaming and it's very power efficient.
