Core Duo to Core 2 Duo upgrade

Considering the fact that core duo is still pretty new but much improved core 2 duo is already out, do you plan to replace the core duo processor with a core 2 duo processor if your hardware allows you to do so? If yes then when?

Uh, it's not the same socket.

So anyone wanting to switch needs to replace their motherboard.

Not worth it in my opinion. They're both completely capable processors.

Merom, the laptop version of Conroe, does use the same socket as core duo/core solo and is supposed to be swappable with a bios update.

True only a BIOS update is required.
