Choosing not to overclock a computer you've built yourself is not foolish or naive. I've built every computer I've owned and I've never overclocked any of them, and I've never felt the need to do so.

You do not get to define what is foolish or naive among those who build their own computers. You're not an expert, you hold no particularly special or unique experience or qualifications (at least none that have been articulated here).

Also ran Aquamark and got 62,196, but that test's results depend heavily on the gpu, so shouldn't be used to compare the two cpu's at all...sorry, didn't have time to run any other tests.

Nice Rayvin, so at 3Ghz, Phenom scores about the same as C2Q at the same clock in wPrime. That's interesting.

About Aquamark, the score I got was actually over 100k points, but what I posted was the CPU score only, not the total score. It was Aquamark version 3 if I remember correctly. Any chance you could retest and see if there is a CPU score there? :)

Thnx a lot.

For every processor I wouldn't have made that comment. There is no point in OC'ing a Phenom for instance since you won't get anything out of it any way and just exasserbate the problems it already has until errata is implemented. Which is part of the reason I think Phonom is such a horrible processor.

I'm only referring to C2D and C2Q here. And yes, if anyone buys a C2D on a build without OC'ing it then I think they are foolish and/or naive. Thats my opinion and I'll give it whether you like it or not. I have explained over and over why people should overclock these Intel CPU's even if they are the type to have worried about heat and cooling in the past. Those issues simply DO NOT exist with the new Intel processors even with a fairly high OC.
