DFi Blood Iron if they can still be had for $100, otherwise the Abit P35 seems to be pretty good and right about that. I'm waiting for my tax return and the DFI DK P35 which should be about 130-140 but has all solid state capacitors as I need my system to last me a long time.

EDIT: might want to post threads about motherboards in the motherboards section next time.

I think the Gigabyte P35-DS3L might still be $80 at Newegg. What chip do you have, and how far are you trying to push it?

I'm really a little baffled by peoples current obsession with gigabyte. I've owned a lot of gigabyte motherboards in the past and have never been more than marginally satisfied with them. Thats saying a lot more than I would about MSI but, given ther added performance and tweakability and support I've seen in the past from Abit, ASUS and DFI I just don't understand why every other thread on here is having to do with these gigabyte P35 boards. If someone can give me a concrete reason then I'll smile and nod and lay off but, so far it's all been "it works ok-good for me" or "so and so reccomended it to me so you should get it too" There's a thread in motherboards about the abit IP5-E donig 500FSB+ and there are many threads about the DFI's on ther forums and considering the prices of the ASUS there is actually a pretty good following around the web. So, why the gigabytes?

Versus the Abit IP35-E going for 90 bucks that guys are getting 500FSB out of?

Or versus the DFI Blood Iron that was going for ~$120 before they went OOS that was doing about the same if not a little better with even more overclocking options than anything other than the rest of DFI's line-up?

I just don't see it...

i'm not sure about which chip. should i wait for the core 2 e5xxx series

I'd say the only thing really worth waiting around for is the lower end Q9300 or (what i'm waiting on) the Q9450.
