OMG, and people wonder why prices stay so high. Hey it's your cash, spend away.....I'm waiting for MSRP before anyone gets my money. Gouging encouragement not recommended.

Great job for getting it nearly $150 more than the suggested retail price  I ordered mine from clubit yesterday for only 359.99 and its already on its way here. :)

for the last bloody time, $316 is *NOT* the suggested retail price! It's the cost per CPU that Newegg and other OEMs pay when they buy lots of a thousand processors.

I know how you feel. And I wish that could be the last time, but you know people will continue to look at those price sheets and think that that's what they're going to pay for one retail boxed CPU. <sigh>

There is no MSRP, but it's usually about 10-15% over the prices listed on those price sheets. Much more than that (20% or more) might be considered gouging. (Newegg) Even if Newegg does drop its prices it seems unlikely they'd be less than $360 or so.

Im happy that i got it and thats all that counts. Wasnt trying to brag just helping other people who might have been looking for an in stock Conroe. If you got it cheaper then im very happy that you saved yourself some money. Even after i get mine if i know people are still looking for them and i come across some online and in stock i am still going to let people know where i find them at as there have been many people on here who have help my with questions that ive had.

Yes, those are per 1,000 that gets you the $316 price tag. Altho, if you look at other processors, they are selling close to thier tray price. So inevitably, we will see those prices.

How is 20% or more gouging. Most retail industries command a 100% markup or more. Just because we have been spoiled does not suddenly make 20% markup gouging. Besides cpu's are a discressionary good. It is hardly a matter of survival that you pick up a new E6600.
