Core 2 Duo processor only showing 1 CPU in Task Manager

All,

Got a new laptop at work. It's a Dell D620 with an Intel T7200 Core 2 Duo processor. The BIOS shows it's a dual core and that dual core is enabled. I downloaded the Intel Processor ID program, and that shows two CPUs, both running at 2.0 GHz with 4 MB of L2 cache. Everything looks like it's working, but in Task Manager, the performance tab only shows 1 CPU. Shouldn't it show two? under View |CPU History the only option is "One CPU per graph". This is XP Pro SP2, by the way.

Device manager shows
Processors
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00 GHz
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00 GHz

Any ideas? It's my first experience with this processor and I want to make sure it's running to its full potential.

Thanks,
-Brett.

The task manager let you select if you want only one graphic for the whole cpu usage, or if you want one graphic for each thread or core.

Task Manager

I know it's in spanish but, you get the idea.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, however, I already looked into that (see my first post):
under View |CPU History the only option is "One CPU per graph".

Wonder why I only have open option in there?

It's in the root of the boot drive, in my case "C:\". However by default it's read-only and hidden, so you need to make sure Explorer is set to show those files, and remove the read-only attribute before trying to edit it.

Where do you find the boot.ini file to edit.

If you have XP, you can find it under Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Startup and Recovery ->

Ok, thanks. I ended up reinstalling windows anyway. Changed my raid5 to raid0 (80ms to 145mbs).

I was actually concerned that i had killed a core on my processor because i have removed the ihs on an e6400, but now all is well. I just need a storm waterblock so i can go ihsless properly
