Core 2 Duo overheating

Hi I am new here and I am sorry if this topic was done already. I have recently built myself a new computer, its a core 2 duo on ASUS P5B, 1GB ddr2 800 ram, and a eVGA 7900GT KO (500/1500). Everything works fine except my CPU. It idles at 50-51c and under load it reaches 67c. I tryed every thing from silver thermal compound to regulat compound, to regular blue pads(which work the best). I refitted my heatsink 5 times with the same result. all of those tries I took the motherboard out. I even bought a 3rd party copper cooler( a crappy one) but with the same result. I called intel and they said that it is fine as lond as it does not reach 72c. So what do you guys think, is it the sensor, faulty CPU or what. By the way I haven't noticed any Slowdowns or crashes due to overheating.
I played and finished fear at 1024&728 with everything on MAX.
Please give me some advice.
thank you.

download coretemp. it actually gives the reading of the internal cpu diode. That'll tell you if it's too much. Anyways, mine idles at 44 and i don't think i used the thermal grease right, so yours is way too high.

1st of all, update the mobo BIOS. Next, download Everest Home Edition for temperature report. Asus is notorious for false temperature report.

Actually I have updated my BIOS, Everest doesn't read my CPU temp but CoreTemp says Core1-44c core2 43c, the temps i reported in my first post were from PC Probe 2, and my bios. thanks for the quick replies by the way.
