Core 2 Due (Conroe) Drops Monday!

Pentium^2 would have been better. Pentium = 5 and its the 5th Pentium. It would also be dual core.
 
Hmm, i'd like to see an actual date for when we can buy these.

Knowing it's gonna be called Core 2 Duo doesn't get me too excited...

Still, from the early performance numbers, Core 2 Duo should be a performance contender.

I'm looking to upgrade my desktop before the end of July, so hopefully, they'll be available to purchase.
 
Great CPU, horrible name...

I realize Intel's probably using the Core name to steer away from the bad things associated with the Pentium marque (Prescott anyone?), but still I think that Pentium V would have been the proper name. By naming it Core, they are destroying a 10+ year legacy.

Yeah, seriously, Core 2 Duo, as if it's an afterthought to their notebook CPU, the Core Duo...😕
 
Yeah I agree about the name, I really, as a stock holder, was really hoping they would call it Pentium 5... I mean think of all the nubs that would have upgraded!
 
Seriously, I know I can't be the only person who thinks Intel's seriously gonna hurt their market share by dropping the Pentium name. I mean, a lot of people don't know what to do if it doesn't have the "Pentium" logo stuck on it somewhere.

For us, not much bother other than the fact it's a sorry name, but the casual buyer.. ooooyyy.

I still say they're gonna run into trouble with the casual buyer and now slower clock speeds. x_x; Good luck convincing some people that your 2.2 is faster than their 3.2. Oyyyy. So glad I don't sell computers right now, would NOT want to be the one to explain this stuff.
 
Clap Clap intel ^_^ I'm still hoping for a 50/50% Intel / AMD world ...

We already have a 50/50 ATI / Nvidia ... Now lets fix this CPU market.

I think this is what he meant...Hopefully it releases reviews with a lifting of NDAs and not just a press release
