Cordless Mice

I'm looking into a cordless mouse for gaming, possibly the Logitech MX510. I've heard the goods and bads about being cordless but is the delay noticable when playing a game compared to a mouse with a cord?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. My Logitech MX1000 is easily the best mouse I've ever tried, hands down.

Or the logitech MX518. Really a great mouse for a good price. You'll be happy with either. It's not worth even taking the chance that a wireless might lag. It's not like cords are a big hassle or anything.

Do you like putting mouse in pocket? If so, cordless good. If not, cordless SUCKS!

Think of it as a fat mouse with no leash. You gotta worry about battery life, lowered response due to low battery, response in general. On top of that, the battery makes the mouse heavy. Having a wire attached the mouse gives you an idea of where the mouse can go. Cordless is like a mouse with no leash. You lose track of how far you can go in some situations. I've once seen my little bro playin some fps where he didn't change the sensitivty. He gets shot in the back and tries to turn around as fast as he can. His wireless fat mouse goes smack into a wall. GG, go get a wired.

You said cordless mice like mx510. 510 is a corded mouse.

Usually they'll skip in game and lagg or some such problem. I would not get a cordless mouse at this point in time, maybe in a few years when power and lagg aren't much of an issue.

One word of advice. If you play any Steam game, don't get an Mx700. Most of my buttons aren't supported by steam since the last update, and I doubt Valve will ever fix it, because hey, it's Valve. As far as I can tell, it only affects those mice.

But other than that, yeah, go for it. Being tethered down blows. Wireless kicks ass.

Yeah my bad about the MX510 I was thinking of somehting else....It has the laser technology. Anyway I play alot of games including CS:S, DOD:S, BF2 etc. I want to go cordless cause I hate dragging a cord around but I want to know the advantages/disadvantages of both. 😕

Pros:
No dragging from cord
Longer range than cord

Cons:
Laggy reception
Usually skips (due to idleness in an attempt to save energy)
Heavy (batteries)
Expensive

Sorry to burst everyones bubble, but EVERY negative comment that ppl have listed here are problems that wireless mice had YEARS ago... the MX1000 doesn't have any of those issues... and the charge..sh1t, i charge the damn thing 1 night a week and it lasts me all week..and i use it alot........ sorry guys, but wireless IS teh route to go, especially the mx1000

long battery charges
no LAG, EVER
instant response, even when mouse does it auto shut off after 5 seconds...wakes up instantly
maybe a lil heavy...but its personal preference..i don't even notive its heavy weight...

The weight can't be that bad. The Logitech G7 only has 15g batteries.😀

I used an MX700 for a couple years for gaming. I liked it, but the batteries wouldn't take a charge so I called it dead and picked up a 518. The 518 is much better for gaming, do a search around here and see for yourself.

I bought the MX1000 for my laptop, thinking it would travel better than a corded mouse-big mistake. Besides mouse, I now have to carry receiver (corded, natch), and if I plan on being gone for awhile, the charger. It's a good mouse, but I do find it to be a tad heavy for my tastes. Thinking very seriously about replacing it with a smaller, corded mouse. Your milage may vary, of course.

I've got a M$ wireless explorer and LOVE it - it's a little on the heavy side, but I actually prefer that. It uses AA batteries, and is excellent for battery life (I've had it 14 or 15 months now and haven't yet had to change them). There's the tiniest bit of lag, but not enough that I notice it more than like every couple weeks.
