All of the above companies make all or most all of the above tools. No one manufacturer makes the best everything. Milwaukee does not in any way shape or form make the best, or even the third best cordless drill. Performance-wise Makita is the best, and price/performance-wise, blow everything else away.

I have to agree that no one company makes the best all around tools.

For cordless hand drills, I would just as soon get a craftsman or a Makita.

With craftsman electric tools, buy an extended warranty. Sears / Craftsman has some of the best warranties around. When I was working for a cable modem provider, I used a craftsman cordless drill. That thing last about 2 years with using it almost daily. The chuck finally messed up, and the drill was replaced under the extended warranty.

When I was working for a portable building company, we used a lot of Makita cordless drills. Those things were work horses.

When I was working in a welding shop, the Makita 4 inch grinders could not hold up. After a couple of months the gears in the head would strip out and have to be replaced. In comparison, Black and decker grinders only lasted a few weeks.

I have a Hitachi grinder at home, and the trigger lock is poorly designed. Its a good strong grinder, but the trigger lock is difficult to disengage, which could get someone hurt if their not careful.

If I were going to buy a cordless drill right now, I would go to the local Lowes, look at prices, and buy what is within my budget. Whether it was Makita, Hitachi, or drive across the street and get a craftsman, all of them should get the job done.

I have the craftsman c3 non LION one, about 2 years old. I used a friends year old dewalt 18v and OMG its way nicer than my craftsman(of course it cost double)

if I was buying now, I would get this, have no personal experience but heard great things.

Ive used the LION 18v milwaukee and its nice too. compared to my craftsman that cost less....

Milwaukee makes (brands) tons of tools. Their cordless drills are massively overpriced, and do not perform as well as some others. This says nothing about their industrial drill presses, and their industrial drill presses say nothing about their cordless drills. I have one, and I have a Makita, and I leave the Milwaukee in the box. Get it?

If I wanted a Jigsaw I would say get Bosch.

Circular saw, Porter Cable

Sawsall, Milwaukee

Router, Porter Cable or Hitachi

Belt sander, Porter Cable

Nailer, Paslode

Biscuit joiner, Lamello

I agree with most especially the bolded. I was in the market last summer and all reading pointed me to the bosch, and then the rigid actually. I have the rigid, mostly due to getting it for 77 bucks thanks to a coupon code gaffe
