I wish I cared enough to link the thread where I was ridiculed for suggesting that cable TV was a forever shrinking market. This thread living on, while I can't find the one where the pay TV subscribers were jumping my shit, died, is all I need.

Even internet service requires hopping around to get a decent price these days.

To be fair, if they didn't hire EVERY FUCKING PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE that retires from their sport, whether competent or not, they wouldn't have to lay anybody off in the first place.

most of those are contract employees, so while paying a good amount of front, they aren't paying anything on the back end in benefits.

the retarded amount of money going into the rights fees are another story.

I've been happily streaming NFL games illegally all year. All because of Comcast pricing model for existing customers. As soon as I can get data via some other service Comcast is dead to me.

Things are just going to change over time. It's similar to Cell phones IMO. It use to be you paid out the ass for voice service and text, and data was unlimited. Then Data became all people really used anymore so now that's the focus, and voice/text are unlimited and cheap. Cable will adapt. Data prices will eventually rise, and TV will become cheaper or free with your data bundle.

Soak in the cheaper internet while you can, pretty soon you'll be paying $100/m for it.

Unfortunately, this.

You have somewhat of a choice in how you choose to consume entertainment, but most of us are completely screwed with no options when it comes to getting internet access. Yay, I can give the cable company the finger, cut the cord and get my entertainment from the internet -- and then they'll simply jack up the price of my internet access :|

But isn't this what the whole turning internet into a utility was supposed to address? Pricing regulations of some sort?

That's also an article from espn, you think it would mention that?
