They "forget" to mention you need a VIVO card (for transferring VHS tapes) and a DVD player that will play burned SCVD disks, oh yeah, and thats it's illegal to copy rented DVD's (wha?...wha?)

but they promised me dvd quality!!! vcd is blah!

Q: Can DVD-COPIES be played on a standard DVD Player?
A: Most DVD-COPIES can be played on a standard DVD Player, provided the DVD Player supports Video CD (VCD/SVCD). Most DVD Players manufactured within the last two years, support the standard Video CD format. Refer to your DVD Player owners manual for more information or click here to check on the VCD/SVCD compatibility of your DVD Player.

Yes it can be done, quite easily. And you don't need their software package to do it. Have a look at vcdhelp.com / doom9.org for all the information and tools you'll need to do it.
