BTW, have you ever tried to hold on to a greased naked person? It's damn near impossible.

Got what he deserves. Sadly, wait till the parents and ALCU sue for "excessive force" or some other lame excuse, because after all, "he's a good student".

I'm not surprised they have a security guard there. My high school (quiet one) went from 1 security guard in '91 to 4 guards by the time I graduated. I hear now they have police there.

I'm not sure that shooting him with a taser was really the appropriate use of force. He was naked and jumping around. At most, hit him a few times until he lays down. It sounds like the cops just didn't want to touch a greased up naked guy so they used force which really wasn't necessary.

Hitting him... same thing as the taser.

Not really. Tasers kill more people than you think, each year. Punching him, even in the face, isn't going to kill him.

Blunt force trauma kills more people than you think... obviously.

BTW, have you ever tried to hold on to a greased naked person? It's damn near impossible. Using blunt force to stop him would put him at more dnager of serious injury than a taser since you'd have to knock him out... you could not possibly hold on to him.

Sweat =! grease. I am with the cops. The taser caused less harm than "punching him, even in the face."

lol, sure, then the police get into trouble for brutality or beating the guy up and you'd be on here bitching about police brutality instead of bitching about him being tasered. taser use was appropriate.

can't win with you guys

In my opinion, cops should have used a tranquilizer gun and taken him down, just like any other animal running amuck.

Just bring in a few convicts from the federal pen. He'd have his clothes on faster than you can say "Fish" :p

it never ceases to amaze me how any store involving cops will bring the morons out of the woodwork. if the cop would have tripped, punched, shoved, held, or knocked him down everyone would be yelling "police brutality!!"

Do you Ohio students get a lot of greased-up deaf guys?

My brother is a city cop, he asked for the S.R.O. (School Resource Officer) job here at the local high school. This story just made headlines because the dude was naked because this is NOTHING compared to some of the stories my bro tells me. Hell, criminals on the streets seem to behave better than some of these kids in high school.

By the way, the middle school SRO (the middle school's right next door to the high school my bro works at) told my bro that he's confiscated a couple of guns from kids.

My brother has actually had to serve a few felony warrants at his school, and this is even one of the "nicer" high schools in the county.

My brother has been asking over and over again for the ability to use tasers there as it was not allowed before. But a recent attack on the other SRO there by another student who stabbed the officer with a pen and broke his nose has led them to grant my brothers request.

He hasn't used it yet, though he's been in a few situations where he'd easily be justified in doing so. The thing is, he doesn't WANT to use it either. So to all who think every cop is just a power tripping a hole please understand that's not the norm, but actually the exception to the rule that very few cops want to hurt people.

Taser crew/LEOs, please back me up on this one:

Getting juiced is a MUCH better option than a punch to the face.

- M4H

It is, and it's even better than getting sprayed in the face with Mace. Had to throw out my contacts and wear glasses for a day after that.

Hit him and trip him all you want. Sending an electrical pulse into his body crosses the line for me in this situation.

So you'd be perfectly okay with them giving him a preview screening of "Rodney, King of Queens" but the much safer, more humane alternative is "wrong?"

Streakers were probably even more common in the days before Tasers were popular. Somehow they handled it. This guy wasn't a threat to anyone, and I doubt they believed he was. Tasers are so "convenient" that they don't just replace other types of force these days, they also replace talking to somebody.

In this case what should have happened is that the officer, a teacher or the principal should have walked over and said "Alright, you've had your fun. Now cover yourself and come with me right now or you're going to get expelled.

If they hadn't used the taser it probably would have taken a few more minutes to calm him down and restore order. I don't think that those minutes are worth the risk of injuring or killing someone.

We have police all over the schools here in San Antonio - sign of the times....pretty sad, but I'm glad they're there....

My sister is a teacher here in Birmingham, AL. There are 3 cops at her middle school as well. And she teaches in a middle - upper class school district.

I agree. Getting into a physical altercation could mean trouble for the officer. Taser was quickest means, officer didn't get hurt, no one else got hurt...

Way to read the article buddy.

Someone approached him and he responded with a sexual gesture and kept on running.
