Coppermine or Gallery2

I'm looking to setup my server with a dedicated gallery where I and other users can share photos. I have been torn between these two and went with Coppermine after someone told me about it.

I did do a temp install of Coppermine on my server and to be honest, I'm not impressed. It seems like the look and configuration features are stuck in 2003 and it doesn't support gmail as a default mail for the program (no mail server yet). I might try Gallery2 as the screen shots of the software in operation seem a lot friendlier and the tech support seems to be better also. Any ideas or suggestions? Any users of Gallery2?
 
I did install it on my server and it was quite easy and user friendly. I haven't really used it much, and I never tried to customize it
 
I thought they both sucked sadly. No real easy way to import hundreds of pictures.

With both of them, I FTP'd over 1GB of pictures, then tried to import them. Both failed, despite following the FAQ's to do it. I was pretty pissed.
 
I don't plan on importing 1GB of pictures at a time fortunately. The more I look, the more I think Gallery2 looks better in the long run.
