is there a way how to clean up the fins of copper heatsinks that turn almost black due to long term use? how would i do this?

No idea, drop a penny in a glass of it. I just remember putting a penny in water that had baking soda dissolved in it and the penny came out pretty clean.

^ can do the same with coke... leave it long enough and the penny looks that bit smaller *shudder*

The best way to clean tarnished copper is with vinegar and salt. The salt takes the tarnish right off, once you have some vinegar on there.

Are you going to look at it or use it to cool the CPU? If you pretty and new looking you will have to buy a pretty new one.

well i was wondering if this "black thingie" would affect my cooling performance thats the reason im opening up this thread.. so if it really does affect, then i need to remove it.. if ur suggesting me to get a new one, well, does the NEW one performs better than this?
