Coper to Fiber Media Converter

I'm looking to upgrade the connection speed between 2 physical sites.

I've been looking at Transition Networks' converter
http://www.transition.com/Tran...goryName=SGFEB10xx-12x

But when I was getting quotes for the device one of my vendors shot back an additional quote for an IMC Networks MCBasic Gigabit 100mbs 855-11915

I don't have a lot of experience with fiber converters and was hoping someone might have a good comparison between the 2.

The fact that the IMC would come in at 1/2 the cost for the upgrade makes me cautious though.

Thanks for the info.

Don't have a comparison but I've been using two IMC MiniMC converters to go from a 100Mbps ST multi-mode fiber connection to 100Mbps copper for more than three years without a failure. These are the first and only converters I've used.

i primarily use transition and blackbox converters, although ive heard good things about IMC. you can't go wrong with either, but at 1/2 the price with a 6-year warranty, the IMCs are attractive.

Shakeout, MILAN first choice, Transition second.

I've generally been using them for cross-connects in places where outages would cost Real Money (e.g. colos/data centers). Therefore, saving a few hundred bucks of one-time cost just wasn't the right choice. We were told by the staff of a Tier 1 ISP who still has competent staff that they tested them all and recommend the MILAN. We've had no problems with them. MILAN got bought by Transition, and we've had good luck with them too (Transition is just more expensive).
