cop steals ipad at airport

Yep a lot of Fed Gov employees years ago were caught selling their metro tickets on craigslist. Many people that made 40-80k a year got fired for it. All for $100 or so a month.

Really dumb. Lets jeopardize a $80k+ year carrer so you can steal a ipad worth less than $1k. Not even mentioning that it is wrong, to steal.

86k? f-that. I made less than that as an engineer. But I should be close once I finish my MS. Would be beyond that after my PhD though.

$86k for a 25-year old with a high school education. And people wonder why we have a budget crisis?

Thank you affirmative action.

Hell that's nothing compared to the benefits. Long-term disability, pension, lifetime health insurance, vacation time, paid FMLA and personal days, etc.

$86k could just be her base pay too. Throw in overtime and you can be well over 100k. My buddy looked in to becoming a cop after leaving the army, and they told him he'd be pretty much guaranteed to make six figures his first year with overtime.

Good grief. Mehserle never tried to cover up anything. STFU and stop already.

he tried to cover up the fact that he killed the victim without justification by saying he resisted and tried to assault him. unfortunately for him, it was recorded on cell phone cams. he and the other cops also tried to cover up what really happened by going through the crowd and confiscating peoples' cell phones.

so do you think 8 months is an appropriate sentence for battering someone and then killing them by shooting them in the back?

No, he didn't. The prosecution based their entire case on the argument that Mehserle shot Grant out of anger because Grant WAS IN FACT RESISTING arrest. IOW, not even the prosecution was so stupid as to make the argument that Grant was NOT resisting arrest (which is plainly visible on video).

Minus the battery (that's complete bullshit), 8 months is supremely typical for involuntary manslaughter. People convicted of the same offense routinely serve as much or less (provided they don't have an EXTENSIVE criminal history....like the "victim" Grant).
