OP = EPIC FAIL

There is a difference between doing what is EXPECTED and REASONABLE in a situation and going above and beyond. A grocery store clerk who did the above is above and beyond. A cop or soldier who does it is only doing their job.

Dealing with a shotgun wielding idiot is going above and beyond even for a cop. They all know that it is a possibility but by no stretch is it a daily occurance.

This should nicely compliment his "World's Greatest Dad" coffee mug.

He was in a shootout.

With a woman.

I actually laughed out loud at this. Barfo, when a woman pulls the trigger on a shotgun, it still kills you.

I'm now assuming that this thread is a joke, because there is quite literally no way anyone can actually think this.

Complement, dumbass. It doesn't surprise me that you would trivialize a heroic action by a cop.

Really? So what's the cop's duty in this case, wait it out until the woman decides she's shot enough people and surrenders?

And? When a woman holds a shotgun does it suddenly shoot flowers and puppies or something?

bwuahaha! that cracked me up! especially when i initially thought "well, it could shoot flowers and puppies, but that would be cruel"

Really? Do you hate cops so much that you have a problem with this?

In his country, cops are a bunch of corrupt scum for the most part, so I imagine he thinks the same is true everywhere else.

im not sure what shocks me more. that idiots have a problem with him getting the award or think that cops and soldiers face this on a regular basis.

no its not. why dont you read the requirements for the MoH, the first words are "for gallantry that went ABOVE and Beyond the call of duty"....

same with the service crosses, bronze stars, silver stars, the airforce medal for heroism...

This. Just because it's part of your job description doesn't mean it doesn't take massive balls. Police officers and soldiers aren't superhumans and that's why they give awards for "just doing your job" when, in the course of doing your job, you have to do some dangerous stuff and risk your own life to protect others.

And this is related to the thread, how?

On the upside, it's nice to have my first fan in ATOT *blows kiss to TehMac*, however, while it's flattering to have you following and posting passionate responses in my threads, I don't want to encourage my idolization, so this will be the last time I address you, but be assured you hold a special place in my heart 😉

What's your problem? Cops are hired to protect and serve their cities. When they do a great job doing just that they shouldn't be recognized? Heaven forbid well known cops be good role models for others in their cities...

I guess I should get a nice fat bonus for sitting all day in the office and actually doing my job then.

How many cops do you think are involved in shootouts during their entire career, let alone on a daily basis?

Holy shit your perception is ridiculous.

HOWEVER, with the history of the CPD, I wouldn't be surprised that a cop would be rewarded for simply doing their job (read: preventing, rather than committing a crime). Though this is not at issue with this brave officer.

I'm surprised there's any room left with the space all your cold blood occupies. 😉

Jealous you didn't get an award for touching yourself?

Yeah, I stole that one from him. Good luck next year, jpeyton!

That's not relevant at all, whether they're involved in one or 5 during their entire career, it's reasonable to expect it to happen sometime, that's why they train and prepare for it.

So let's see, we have 3 trained cops vs. an angry lady tenant with a shotgun and what happens? the lady wounds 2 of them and then gets killed.
Maybe he deserves the award after all, for doing the job his 2 mates screwed up that they should be able to do in the first place.

Oh, I get it now.

You're mentally handicapped. Continuing this argument would only be rude and sad.
