cxim...When you hear another campaign ad decrying Republicans for wanting so-called Cop Killer Bullets, if you read the article, you would see through another pack of bull from Gore and his cronies.

gracias Tom,

you were quite 'neutral' in your wording

Have quite a few FMJ rounds in the closet, in the k's.

never shot a cop & don't intend to.

a sable on the wall

and a few other thing here or there ? well, OK...

Cop killer bullets?? hmm that's a vague term.... from my limited understanding of things most vests worn by cops are rated for handgun ammunition. I guess any rifle bullets that exceed the rating of those vests and are able to penerate would be "cop killer" bullets. Anyways... those vests have fibers in them that are designed to grip then bunch up in front of the bullet. Most handgun rounds have that round nose to bunch up on. Most fully jacketed rifle bullets have a point to them, makes for little area to bunch up on. The only vests that are able to stop high velocity rifle rounds are the one's with a special ceramic or steel hardplate insert that usualy just covers the heart. I'd imagine that since those are too bulky to work with most cops will only have handgun threat level rated vests. This makes the term "cop killer bullets" cover very large ground, anything from .308 and higher I guess could penetrate most cop's vests. Just my 2 cents....:)

Why would anyone vote against something that could kill a cop?
if you could read you would have seen that they want to ban anything the can penerate a soft vest. well then we need to get rid of all knifes, bows and any high velocity rounds. i don't know about the rest of you but i don't want a law that is that broad and very vague.

BTW - cars kill cops all the time, should we ban them too.

BBTW - we have banned guns in new york city and washington D.C. so the cops shouldn't need vests, RIGHT!

I'm one of the biggest NRA supporters around. I was just trying to bring attention to more Liberal lies.

I've got one myself!

The Law that was proposed was so broad as to ban all rifle ammuntition. Liberal backdoor policy at it's worst!

Cop killer bullets are an urban legend. Like Russ has pointed out, a high-caliber round will penetrate most types of bulletproof vests. This hysteria causes one of my favorite types of ammo to be taken off the market. Black Talon rounds had a special coating that protected the barrel of the gun, but they were bullied into taking them off the market because of this misguided hype.

This is as dumb as when the police could only carry 38s and the drug dealers were running around with automatic weapons.

I use Hydra-Shocks myself. I dont believe in giving a bad guy the chance to get up.

Baiting liberals... some are just too desperate for an argument. There must be better ways for thrills.

sigh.

Now we wait for someone to discredit the National Review, and for conservatives to defend it as fact, etc. This pointless circular debate gets so old.

Hey if the cops want to ban those bullets, all you conservative right-wing wackos should obey their wishes!
