Yup, cops never learn, they just do what they want.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/08/1...hallenging-veteran-over-use-disabled-parking/

Disabled veteran parked in a handicapped spot (with appropriate placard), cops pulls up and questions him and says he shouldn't park there because he can walk.

Bonus points for not wanting to be videotaped and appearing to knock the cell phone out of the veteran's hand. That would be assault right? Cops can't do that right? At least not legally.

So why is a cop deciding on his own to ignore the placard and make him move? What medical training does he have to make such a judgement?

Another great example of cops ignoring the law, and doing whatever they feel like. #fewbadapples

That cop deserves to be behind bars for gross stupidity alone. Forget about the crime of going off on a disabled vet legally using a handicapped spot, but what sort of malfunction does it take to assault someone who you know is filming you? That should be the first thing cops get taught, cameras are EVERYWHERE, assume you're being recorded 24/7 and act accordingly.

that's absurd... people need to be more sensitive to hidden disabilities, and if you see the handicap tag, stfu unless you see the person doing cartwheels out of their car.

I've been using a temporary tag since my knee surgery a couple months ago (and will likely continue to use it until I'm off crutches and no longer considered to be a "fall risk"). I try to use it as little as possible because I can walk, but if a parking lot is riddled with potholes, I'm going to use it so I can avoid stumbling over a hole and retearing my muscle.

Very surprised it took the cop haters this long to post this, it has been news for a few days now. Slacking huh? #trollingcophaters

That being said, this cop was a douche. No two ways about it. I can see his point, but still doesn't make it right. I'm 70 percent disabled, and could get a disabled tag. Park in handicap parking. But I can walk fine and feel like it is abuse of the system, even though legally I would be within my rights.

Holy Christ that cop is an idiot. I did laugh at the vet saying "well I dont think you look fit to be a cop with that gut hanging over your belt".

I think police should have to pass a military physical training test every year.

Every branch is different. The Chair Force's test (Air Force) is stupid easy. But I would love for cops to have to keep in some standards. Fat cops are embarrassing.

Again, it IS legal to record cops in public. It IS legal to do so as long as you do not impede his/her work.

A lot of people in California abuse those placards, they don't have to feed the parking meeters and they can park in green time limited spots for as long as they want. Having a placard can save you $150+ in parking fees a month in most cities here.

This Vet wasn't abusing it, but their are many people who do. So the cop probably got tired of the abuse.

They're also dangerous. The less capable you are of fighting, the more likely you are to shoot. Example: George Zimmerman shooting Trayvon Martin. He didn't shoot Trayvon because he hates black people or because he likes killing people. He shot Trayvon because he was getting his ass kicked. He's a fat guy with no fighting skills and he's pretending to be a cop. The only defense he has is a gun, so he's going to use it.

Of the following 2 people, which one is more likely to shoot you and which one is more likely to slam you to the ground and put you in a triangle.

Surprised the cop hadn't earned himself a spot looking the way he does.

I call it when I see it.

We all know someone who gets out of a handicapped spot and bebops there way into a store walking perfectly fine. It pisses me off. Always makes me wonder if they're driving someone elses car and just abusing it. I refuse to get one. It's a perm tag so it is tempting.

What does this mean? How do you measure? By number of body parts?

No, it a extremely long and detailed process. Basically you make a claim, either online, by mail or in person. There is a laundry list of issues to choose from. Then the next step is they send you to a VA hospital or other facility and do tests on what you're trying to claim. Took me well over a year, I didn't submit anything until after my 4th deployment. I get a check the first of the month for the rest of my life for 70%. It's a nice chunk of change not going to lie, doesn't offset some issues I have however. But still it helps.

You have to get reevaluated every so often, and the claim can go up or down depending on whatever they deem. I recently got an increase for cost of living by a little over $25 per month.

I agree with you. Fighting takes out a huge amount of energy in a very short amount of time. Most people don't know this. Same with sprinting. Once you get there, you need to be able to function, and talk on the radio. I would fully support cops having to stay in a reasonable amount of shape. I understand sitting in a car and crappy shift hours is not healthy and can lead to weight problems, but still its out of control. With the rest of America getting obese, cops dont need to.

Yeah but they came up with a new tactic: They claim its evidence and confiscate your phone or camera. You better be on 4G streaming the video the whole time or else it will get "lost".

Oh, you meant that you got 70% of your previous pay for disability. That makes more sense. I thought you were 70% disabled. Which didn't make any sense, given how ripped you are.

No, I am 70% disabled by the VA from active military duty. Not everything can be seen from the outside. I think we're confusing each other heh.

Veteran or not, by the way the dude is prancing around left and right with his cell-phone camera... He is not disabled. We hand out handicap licenses like candy. It's despicable. It's pathetic. You're pathetic if you get a handicap full well knowing you don't need it and continue to use it like it's your job to use it. Grow some balls in life and stop using it if you don't need it.

That said, it doesn't justify the cops actions.

In Texas you must have a doctor's prescription to get a handicap placard or plates. They have 3 types, temporary for less than 6 months, temporary for up to 3 years, and permanent. The temporary placards are issued to the person and are marked as such.

Funny how many of these incidents we see now with cell phones? All those years cops got to beat up and kill people and get away with it since there was no video to show their crimes and lies, and you are complaining that we have video now? Really? #fewbadapples

Maybe if so many cops weren't assholes and breaking the law we wouldn't have this problem, right? Right?

It is a "few bad apples". No matter how much you keeping saying it in a mocking manner. The sheer magnitude of cops out there, and the number of incidents that are actually the cop doing bad is such a low percentage. Well over a million cops out there. Yet people like you still keep chiming away, acting like its all cops doing wrong all the time. At least admit you have an agenda and are a cop hater. All you post is negative. Otherwise you're just a pathetic troll who has been wrong about me several times claiming that I am a cop.
