Cop charged with murder after shooting

Even without video, I can't imagine what plausible story the cop would have for shooting the guy in the back.
Now, in the absence of witnesses or video, it's possible that the question would never be asked and he would have got away with it.

Yes, it is pathetic. Obviously this shoot is a bad shoot. But they had to throw race in there like always. Well, always when it's white on black, not so much the other way around.

Wow, look at the circle jerk. What no one seems to have mentioned yet is that if this attempted cop murderer (he reached for the taser, it seems) kept running in the direction he was going he would have looped around, eventually ending up exactly where he started and, much worse, he would be coming up from behind the cop. The officer was forced to shoot to the man to protect himself and to ensure Mr. Scott could no longer terrorize South Carolina with his broken tail light.

Alternatively: If he didn't want to get shot, he shouldn't have run.

Edit: The cop's lawyer quit, ostensibly because he lied to him and the lawyer made statements saying it was in self defense until the video came out.

I agree. He could have been the Flash and could have gotten to such a speed where he runs through the end of the universe and ends up behind the cop where he stabs him. With this new evidence, I'd say its a good shoot.
 
I think this would be a more appropriate reason for race riots and demonstrations compared to Ferguson. Lets see what I see on the news tomorrow. I look forward to seeing that cop convicted and put in jail. Does S. Carolina have the death penalty?

I'm glad in the first paragraph of the article they clearly describe that the police officer, featured in the video, is a white police officer, and the guy he shot, also clearly featured in the video, is a black man. Thanks NY Times.

You're missing the point. Might as well tell me the grass is green in the video that is obviously showing a black and white man just above the paragraph.

Also, that cop is a POS who will be charged with and convicted of murder. This is not going to go the same as those other incidents.

I certainly hope so. Cop doesn't even yell stop as the guy runs away. Nothing I can hear even though I could hear him say shots fired well enough. Shoot someone, then yell at them to put their hands behind their back as they lay on the ground? WTF?
 
Gotta give the guy who shot that video some props for getting closer after the shooting. If I had evidence of a cop murdering someone that blatantly and then planting a weapon on him I'd be running away before he shot me too. Cop is willing to murder one person and try to cover it there's no reason for him not to murder a second person too.

You do realize that when they print it in the newspaper there will be no video, right?

It's the same as the eric garner incident... a little worse than the cleveland incident.

That's what i was thinking.

What gets me is how casual the cop is about the whole thing. he walks up and tosses the tazer at the dead guy like it's no big deal.

Yep. And I'll bet it will be on the front page complete with a picture of what is shown on that video still when you click the link. At least that's the pic I would use if I were them.

Yea, because its isn't like there hasn't been a series of black people murdered by cops recently. Many of which ended with 0 repercussions for the pig who did the shooting.

I have a feeling if it wasn't for the video, you'd be cheering for the cop.
