rails on this psu are:

Input Voltage 100~132VAC or 200~264VAC
Input Frequency Range 47 - 63 Hz
Output +3.3V@30A, +5V@28A, +12V1@14A, +12V2@15A, -12V@1A, +5VSB@2.5A

specs on my computer:
msi k8n neo 4 platinum moboard
300gb hd maxtor sata
ati x800 xl 256mb
2gb of ram

should be fine no?

I just wanted to make sure through other people that this PSU would be just fine. I'm trying to save my seasonic PSU m12-430w for my new rig.

do you guys think this PSU is good enough for:

nvidia 8800gt 512 or ati 4870
e8400 + some moboard
4gb ram
WD 36gb raptor hd, 500gb seagate HD

Thanks, much appreciated for advice guys. Good lookin' out! 😀

The coolmax psu is a piece of crap, but as long as it doesn't blow up, it should power that old pc just fine. The seasonic should also do the trick for your new rig.

Why are you trying to skimp on the PSU so much? I mean your putting 1 grand worth of parts into a machine, and if that PSU blows up you risk losing the whole rig. Increase the budget and buy a quality PSU. Also, I would not use the seasonic 430W with a quad core.

Thermaltake isn't exactly high quality either...

I wasn't really trying to "skimp". that PSU cost me 80 dollars a little over a 6 months ago. 🙁

Whoa. Talk about over-prices from where ever you got it (assuming you got coolmax psu)

Just buy this: http://www.buy.com/retail/user...x&qxt=home&display=col it will run your quadcore rig just fine, and 70$ after shipping is almost nothing for a PSU like that.

thanks marc, much appreciated. I'm kinda new when it comes to matching power to the PSU rails 🙁

That PSU is high quality and will do just perfectly.

I'm not even sure I would run that coolmax 400W PSU with that rig that includes the X800 series graphics card. I had a 350W CodeGen PSU that would cause the HDs to spin down whenever I fired up the graphics card when I added an X850Pro to my Athlon XP rig. I upgraded to a 520W SuperFlower PSU and things were much better.
