Coolmaster and Duron 800

Ok. I'm planning to build my new system tonight, so I did a dry run installing the Coolmaster last night. The installation is easy enough, but the HS/Fan seems to be very tight. Is this normal? The last thing I need is to crack the CPU.

I have the same HSF and CPU and it does take quite a bit of force to attach the heatsink clip. I've had it off and on a couple of times and have not had any problems. Just take it slow. 🙂

Yes, it's normal for it to be tight 🙂 It's good that way, cuz you know you are making good contact between the HSF and CPU.

Tight is good. Just not TOO tight. If it fits snug, then its fine. But one question...why a Coolermaster hsf? You could do so much better.

He could do much better, but with just a Duron 800Mhz, does he need to?
This is assuming that he does not intend to overclock his processor.)

Why blow 30$ or 40$ on a high performance HSF when the unit he has is adequate?
