Cooling Questions *Update*

Hi, a couple weeks ago i asked for some cooling advice. I have two generic antec 120x25mm fans (one in a cage for intake) and they arent doing the job. Somone suggested this

http://www.jab-tech.com/customer/product.php?productid=2686&cat=81&page=1 for exhaust

http://www.jab-tech.com/customer/product.php?productid=1497&cat=81&page=1 for intake.

My question is why not go with the second fan for both? It has more CFM, same loudness, and its cheaper. Thanks...

Also whats the best 6800gt AGP cooler?

Do not rely solely on dB values, it's not a universal measure. You'll probably find one fan louder than the other. Panaflos are known to be silent, I can't say anything about Evercool.

I have the panaflo on my XP-120 as we speak, awesome fan. I have a Zalman VF700 on my 6800GT and it works fine, easy installation too. For case fans I like Nexus, but that's just my opinion.

Evercool makes a good fan. They have gotten good comments over at SPCR. I have never used one. The Panaflos are great fans and on a controller of some sort (5.25" bay or pwm software) they can be very quiet (as most other fans can too). Panaflos IMO undercut their cfm's. Their dBA specs are accurate as far as I am concerned. Get 2 of them..... For your 6800GT, I like the rev 2 NV5 silencer. Just got mine in today and man what a difference from the rev 1 as far as noise. It is an incredibly easy install and will not recirculate the gpu's warm air back into your case which sounds like it will benefit you in your case..

Yep...if they mount in a cage you'll have to do some modding to fit a pannie...best bet is just to axe the cage (if you can) and softmount the 120x38 pannie directly to the case.

Whats CFM stand for, exactly?

Also, should i just get a higher CFM for exhaust or intake too? Why cant i just make both exhaust?

Btw, how much will this help exactly?

CFM=Cubic feet per minute. Yes to your 1st question. Do not make them both exhaust, just trust me on this one. I think it will help considerably.

Heen G,
What kind of temperatures are you seeing while gaming?
What you're experiencing sounds like the common incompability seen between
nforce 3 motherboards and high end graphics cards. Try the 66.93 drivers
available at www.nvidia.com, a lot of times that solves the problem. There is
no 100% solution for this issue, but we can try various things that will
significantly improve performance.

My temps while gaming have gotten to 85C and stay continuously at 82-83C. How is this an incompatibility issue? I have never had this happen in the past, no matter what drivers ive used. Thanks alot for your help, appreciate it!

Heen G,

We are currently investigating possibel incomaptibility issues with the 6800 GPU family on nForce 3 motherboards when using drivers newer than 66.93.

One thing you can do to help alleviate the issue is uninstall and clean the current drivers from the system, then reisntall using driver version 66.93 from www.nvidia.com's driver archive.

Somehow, it worked. I havent checked the temps but i bet they havent fallen. im guessing that he was just right. Odd.

Anyway, so far as i have said, its doing good. YES!

Yeah man...i appreciate all your help! What do you think about those undercard fans? The pci slot fans that go under the gpu?

I think they are loud lol. They do provide some exhaust though and might benefit you with a couple of degrees. They are cheap....go get one at CompUSA...try it...check temps....if no different go get your $ back.
