I bought a used system that I like ok. I has its faults but..
I am fairy novice but have tools and abilities, need help with the scientific end.
This case looks like a full tower but where you usually have a fan there is a sound blaster platinum outfit
I Above that is a speaker and wiring and then the cage holding the floppy. No room to place a fan.
So I cut out a blowhole on the very top near the power supply unit (about 250 watt), with the power supply unit pulling air in from the case and blowing it out the back of the case at the top. the fan for it is 3 3/4 in wide.
Then I cut a double blowhole on the side, figuring that I would put 2 fans there, each fan 3 being a 3 in fan.
Problem is, I got to thinking that it may put too much strain on the power supply if I use the big fan at the top to blow hot air out because the intake for the power supply is right there. I would rob the power supply of fresh air and it might burn out?
So now I have a large hole cut out the top and 2 smaller holes (actually 1 oblong hole) cut out the side.
edit - I checked off subscribe to thread
Seems like the top fan should blow in and help the power supply unit take air in and push it out.
I also have a golden orb on the cpu, it is a pentium 900 (yes, it is), mounted on a slocket ( i think thats what you call them- a small riser card). And I have a very small fan mounted at the back blowing in on the orb and the cpu-slocket.
So should I have the side fans blowing out since the top fan must blow in?
I did all this before I joined here and would have waited and got advice but I have to deal with what is, not what could have been.
So i need some advice.
thanks
Gary
